You must complete shadow visits. Once it is determined that you and your animal are suitable for visiting and have selected a facility that you have decided to commit to visit. You are required to complete 3 shadow visits. Your first visit will be with an experienced MSTD team, so you may observe, ask questions, and generally become comfortable with the routine. On these visits you will not have your animal with you. These visits may take place during your workshop time. After receiving your paperwork from Delta, you may schedule your last 2 shadow visits. These final shadow visits are actually your first official visits with your animal while being shadowed by an experienced MSTD team. The final shadow visit is to provide you with additional support you require before “flying solo” and to ensure that you are comfortable and ready to assume the responsibilities of a committed therapy team.

Successful completion of the shadow visits is required to become a Mid South Therapy Dog therapy team.
