Step 4 - Pet Partners Handler Training Workshops

The Pet Partner training course is taught by an experienced Delta Society licensed Instructors.  It combines lecture, group discussion, media support, and role playing by practicing actual visit scenarios with registered therapy dogs - all of which provide the fundamental information needed to succeed as a Pet Partners team.

While you have the option of completing the Pet Partners course via home study, the home study course is intended to accommodate people living in areas where there are no Pet Partners Team Training Courses offered. It is strongly recommended that you attend the Instructor-led course.

Delta Society – Introduction to the Pet Partners program; history of human-animal interaction programs; what is AAA and AAT;

The Handler – Your needs and responsibilities; your pet's role; client rights considerations, Code of Ethics for AAA and AAT; Pet Partners Policies and Procedures;

The Animal - Learn what makes an animal team suitable; understanding the expectations and preparing for the Delta Society team evaluation; 

Workshops give you the distinct advantage of learning from, and asking questions plus you will benefit from interaction with classmates, discussion groups, videos, role playing. The handler-training course gives you the distinct advantage of learning from and asking questions of an experienced Delta-licensed Instructor, plus you will benefit from interaction with classmates, discussion groups, videos, role playing. If you consider the number of years you intend to serve as a Pet Partner, the investment of time and cost spent taking a workshop is well worth building the solid foundation you will need to be an effective Pet Partner for years to come. The goal of our workshops is to fully prepare you to be the best possible Pet Partner you can be!
