Who We Are |
|---|
Providing motivation and comfort through the power of the human-animal bond.
|
The volunteer members of Mid South Therapy Dogs & Friends strongly believe that animals play a critical role in helping people live healthy lives. Animal-assisted therapy activities and learning demonstrate how the human-animal bond can bring about deep and lasting social, emotional, cognitive, physical, spiritual and psychological changes. Mid South Therapy Dogs and Friends is a 501(c)3 Nonprofit charitable organization that is devoted to providing all people, young and old, the opportunity to experience this magic of the human-animal bond. We are an organization of volunteers who provide animal-assisted interactions in health care facilities, schools, libraries, and youth facilities throughout the Mid South. Mid South Therapy Dogs and Friends is an affiliate of Delta Society and Intermountain Therapy Animals and their Reading Education Assistance Dogs and a proud partner of Angel On A Leash. We conduct team training courses and evaluations for animal-handler teams based on Delta Society's Standards of Practice. Mid South Therapy Dogs and Friends strives to ensure that high standards and safe humane practices protect the therapy animals. Animals have a tremendous potential to help people. But along with this potential comes the responsibility to continually improve how animal-assisted interactions are delivered.
